· Established efforts towards the engineering of more flexible, stronger and better-bonding reinforcement fibers. Designed procedures for the evaluation of the important fiber properties. Outlined a procedure for demonstrating the benefits of engineered fibers.
· Provided both paper physics and wood science support for solving product quality problems.
· Interacted with manufacturing unit staff to identify the reason for a decreasing trend in pulp strength.
· Guided technical staff in establishing a cost-effective procedure for the evaluation of bending stiffness of paper.
· Communicated scientific product development principles with the technical staff of manufacturing units.
· Established and extended a network with academic institutions, and to some degree with technical specialists in other companies. Exercised R&D-intelligence. Provided guidance for company-supported academic research. Reviewed papers for scientific journals.
